Meta’s interview process and questions

Meta’s interview process consists of the following steps:

Call with a Meta recruiter
Technical phone screen (and possibly a second technical phone screen)
Onsite interviews

Before we get into the details of each of these steps, here are a few general notes about Meta’s hiring process, evaluation criteria, and interviewers.

Meta interviewers are guided by the company’s current motto: move fast. At Meta, speed wins. You get one shot on goal every ~3 to 6 months, depending on performance.

Step 1: Recruiter call

Step 2: Technical phone screen

Meta's technical phone screen is a 45-minute coding interview focusing on data structures and algorithms. Introduction lasts about 5 minutes, followed by two coding questions.

Meta’s technical phone screens are conducted in CoderPad. During the interview, code execution will be turned off.

Step 3: Onsite interviews

Typical Meta onsite includes:

At least two coding interviews
Two system design OR product design interviews
One behavioral interview

Alternate Process for E6

The process for E6 includes a Leadership Assessment interview before the onsite.

AI usage in Meta interviews

Meta has introduced an AI-assisted round as part of the onsite. As of Q4 2025, it’s in pilot mode, with a full rollout expected by 2026. It includes a specialized CoderPad environment with an AI assistant built in.

How to prepare

Your recruiter should send you a practice environment link. If they don't, ask for it. Practice building new features using AI tools like Cursor.

Coding interview

Coding interview questions tend to repeat, and Meta is the only FAANG that allows some bugs as candidates can code faster.

System design OR product design interview

System design focuses more on high-level architecture, while product design focuses on interactions between services.

Behavioral interview

Behavioral questions at Meta are not standardized but are of medium/low importance.

How Meta makes hiring decisions

Meta’s candidate review process is asynchronous. Interviewers provide a confidence score when filling feedback forms, which affects decisions.

'Team matching, offers, and “Bootcamp”'

Meta's process changed in 2023 allowing team matching before offers.
